Conquering Vikings Buffet SM Megamall!
When you're in the Ortigas you'll definitely notice the new sleek round building fronting the busy highway that is EDSA, it's SM Megamall's newest addition to their ever growing mall complex. The Mega Fashion Hall as the name suggests, houses some world class clothing brands such as Uniqlo and H&M, but did you know that tucked in this building is an equally world class place for the food lovers?
I'm talking about Vikings Buffet's newest addition to their growing lists of branches in the country. Now, foodies from the Ortigas area can satisfy their hunger without going all the way South or North.
More on how we conquered this buffet after the jump!
*Warning: foodporn heavy post! ;)
Located right smack at the center of SM Mega Fashion Hall's 4th floor is where you'll find the newest branch of Vikings Buffet, a massive place to definitely satisfy your cravings for local and International grubs.
Last April, me and the rest of The Burp Society foodies marched down to Vikings SM Megamall to try what they have to offer for lunch. Once you arrive at Vikings, you'll be greeted with their friendly staff.
And upon entering the dining hall you'll notice their awesome interiors, you'll feel like you're stepping into an art gallery. I noticed that every branch of Vikings has a specific theme, for this branch it's art museum of some sort based on different art pieces you'll see on the walls and even on the ceilings.
Spacious and comfortable dining spaces are scattered around the buffet stations. You can choose to dine with an art piece as your centerpiece, or take in the view of the metropolis and sit by the window seats facing EDSA. They also have a couple of private rooms perfect for big groups doing celebrations.
Now on with the part that we love, the food! Vikings Megamall boasts 3 separate buffet areas that feature different food fares, from Korean, Italian, to Japanese. We first visited their meat station located that the left end of Vikings, this is where one can enjoy great selection of roasted meats like Angus beef, turkey, and even boneless lechon!
Beside the meats are the Korean and Chinese tables where you can enjoy all the dimsum that you can take and you can even make your own shabu-shabu hotpot complete with a little stove brought to your table.
Also located at this station is their create your own pizza and pasta area where you can enjoy these great Italian treats the way you like it. You can choose from different pasta and even toppings for your personalized pizza. They also have ready made pizzas and pasta if you don't feel like personalizing it.
Off to the other end of Vikings Megamall, this is where you'll find their fresh seafood ready to be grilled, aside from seafood, you can also get great meat choices that can also be grilled and served to your table. This is also where you can find their sushi boat containing... well, sushi of course! You also cannot miss their tempura and tonkatsu, as well as their Mongolian rice mix station where you can create your own mix.
And finally the middle station, the centerpiece of this foodie paradise is where you'll find all the sweet treats you can possibly enjoy in one sitting. We definitely satisfied our sweet tooth with luscious cakes, fruits, pastries, ice cream, and even some Pinoy classics such as taho, kakanin, and bibingka. And oh, did I mention that they have their own frozen yogurt machine? Yes they do!
Aside from the food, one criteria that can make or break a buffet restaurant is the cleanliness, and Vikings have open kitchens where you can see chefs prepare all the dishes you enjoy throughout your stay. You'll definitely know they are clean and safe plus they are friendly too, say hi to them when you visit Vikings!
Our overall experience trying Vikings' newest location is definitely a great one. The quality of their food are exceptional and tasted like their team made them with such pure dedication. The atmosphere is great considering it's in the middle of a business district, the ambiance inside is calm and relaxed. We're sharing a big thumbs up on our first Vikings Megamall experience.
